S-Shaft Shaft-Driven Power Generation System
Comprehensive coverage across multiple vessel types, maintaining a leading position in both newbuild and retrofit markets.
The global shipping industry is accelerating its low-carbon transition, with the dual regulatory frameworks of CII and EEXI imposing both constraints and creating new opportunities. In 2017, CSSC Saisiyi officially entered the shaft‑generator market, initiating the industrial-scale deployment and market rollout of shaft‑generator systems while balancing compliance requirements with shipowners’ investment returns.
Leveraging continuous technological advancements and an increasingly mature marine battery system, CSSC Saisiyi has innovatively integrated a lithium‑battery subsystem into its shaft‑generator power‑generation system. This approach addresses the demands of rapid power transients in complex ship operating conditions, further optimizes fuel consumption, and enhances operational safety. The resulting “Battery+” solution has consistently delivered outstanding results across diverse applications. From the first domestically developed hybrid‑propulsion system to be exported, to its installation on mainstream commercial vessels serving the flagship routes of the global shipping giant CMA CGM, the “shaft‑generator + battery” hybrid propulsion system has undergone rigorous real‑world testing in multiple scenarios and projects. Its performance and quality have earned broad market recognition, with cumulative deliveries now exceeding 110,000 kWh of stored energy.
The ship retrofit business is growing steadily in tandem. CSSC Saisiyi boasts exceptional end-to-end capabilities in shaft‑generator installation and modification, achieving a fully integrated, closed-loop process under an EPC general contracting model. With its three key strengths—cost‑effectiveness, regulatory compliance, and professional expertise—the company has earned strong recognition from shipowners. To date, CSSC Saisiyi has accumulated experience in retrofitting more than thirty vessels, including the “Yuedian 53,” “KANARIS,” “MOUNT HERMON,” and “ANDREAS K,” serving clients across China, Singapore, Greece, Cyprus, and other regions, and fostering a virtuous cycle of “delivery‑driven accumulation → reputation building → new contract growth.”
To date, the number of vessels equipped with shaft‑line generator systems has reached 583, with a combined shaft‑generator capacity of 475 MW. These systems are widely deployed across mainstream vessel types, including container ships, bulk carriers, chemical tankers, and Ro‑Ro vessels, maintaining a leading position in both the domestic new‑build and ship‑conversion markets as well as in overseas markets.
